During this time of managing COVID-19, rehabilitation clinics that provide the GLA:D® program may be limited in their ability to provide face to face treatment to their patients. With the requirement to socially isolate, many people are restricted in their ability to be physically active and are suffering from their symptoms related to their hip and knee osteoarthritis.
The GLA:D® program is an education and exercise program which promotes independence in physical activity. For many people the program can be completed independently at home with supervision and direction from a qualified therapist. As such many of the GLA:D® trained clinicians are now providing the program remotely through visual technology, working with their patients through smart phones, tablets or laptops.
Anyone who is interested in participating in a program at home should contact their local clinics to see if they are providing the program using virtual technology.
